Steven M. Sultanoff, a clinical psychologist and professor at Pepperdine University says “The experience of humor and distressing emotions can’t occupy the same psychological space.” My first novel RUNNING SHOES is not humorous; therefore I guess it’s distressing emotions? If you look at my first book as a love story (there is a lot of love in it, but that’s not the point of the story), then it does tug on the emotions. Love found, love lost, love found again. My second book, now in the works, tries to look lightly at situations that could potentially cause distress. I can be very sarcastic when I need to be.
