Writer’s Rant
June 4 2024

“One of the great things about books is sometimes there are some fantastic pictures” (George W Bush). Okay, now that’s funny! Many folks think W was not a smart man (kind of like Forest Gump). The best measure we have of intelligence is the IQ score. W was estimated to be between 120 and 128 with the added notation that “you don’t become a fighter pilot with just an average IQ”. The average, by the way, in the US is around 98. Some of our brightest presidents, on the IQ scale, were unarguably Obama, Clinton and Lincoln. The highest estimates were for Thomas Jefferson and John Quincy Adams, both upwards of 160. There are no estimates for our current president (Biden) or former president (Trump), but lots of opinions, many of which should not be repeated. Biden has been described thusly: “Joe Biden isn’t among America’s brightest leaders. (He) is not particularly intellectually sharp or engaging. You can see that from where he went to school, from his grades. He didn’t go to the top elite schools for undergrad or graduate school. … So, (he) is just of average intellect, but obviously he has parlayed that [into the presidency] by virtue of his personality.” As for Trump, “it’s difficult to assess Trump due to limited information and because one of the 45th president’s favorite methods of communication was tweeting, which does not demonstrate a complexity of thinking. He is however, our most cunning president, and there is a certain amount of intellect that that requires.” As for me, I’m closer in intelligence to Forest Gump than any of the aforementioned folks. As I have said before, I was probably the dumbest kid in the smart class. My book probably won’t be of interest to W. There are no pictures except one at the end and it’s of me. And I do not photograph well.
