Writer’s Rant

“I don’t have the energy to pretend I like you today” (anonymous). Did you ever have one of those days when nothing seems right or is going well? It takes a lot of energy to have a bad day. It’s emotionally draining. I’ve had days like that and heard that taking a bible and just opening it to a random page and reading the first verse that you see could offer some amazing insight into your predicament. I was in a bit of a funk the other night and when that happens, I go into defensive mode by finding a bit of humor to rise above it all. So I took my book of “funniest quotes”, opened it randomly, and this is what I found: “An author is a fool who, not content with boring those he lives with, insists on boring future generations” (Charles De Montesquieu). I offer no apology here for my book RUNNING SHOES. You may like it; you may not. As previously stated, if/when you read it, there are two possible outcomes: Either you will enjoy the read or you will find it boring. If the latter, just keep it by your bedside and let it help you to fall asleep.

I gave copies of my book to some of my family members, including my 9 year old grandson. I signed the inside cover of the book with a note to him, saying he shouldn’t read it until he is older. Yesterday, he asked me “why he couldn’t read it now”? How do you tell your 9 year old grandson that the book you wrote is inappropriate for his age? I didn’t. I just told him there are probably parts he wouldn’t understand until he was older. So he reminded me that he will be 10 in just a couple of weeks. Well, that is older, I guess. So I told him he had my permission to read it now, and then if there is something he doesn’t understand, he could just ask me. This should be interesting….
