“I have no special talent; I am only passionately curious.” (Mark Twain) I don’t profess to have an exemplary ability to write. But I am passionately curious as to where my imagination might lead me. That’s why I write fiction. It isn’t real and I can make it up as I go along. It’s much easier to write some fantastical story with no factual basis than to research and write about something that I purport to know, but know nothing about. But is it really? While I give credit to those authors who spend the time to do research and write non-fiction, we fiction writers have to prove our worth in other ways, like knowing what interests our readers. The good thing is, I don’t need to prove anything. That’s why they call it fiction. What I do have to do though is make sure my writing is worth your time. If it’s not, you’ve just wasted five minutes. You’re welcome.
